Mobile AP in Samsung Galaxy TAB

I was using my Nokia 1100 mobile for quite long days. Thinking to buy a new legal apple iPhone in India. But apple seems never release the iPhone 4 in India. Only jail-broken version of the iPhone i can get in India until now. Very recently Airtel told it would release official iPhone 4 with its network in India. Any how its late….

So by comparing the different model of the smart phones, I bought a new Samsung Galaxy TAB in March 2011. It costs Rs.24,500.00 in Chennai. But now the price seems to be down.

Quite interesting experience with Galaxy TAB – Android OS 2.2. Never expected i would experience such a facilities in that phone. (Even though there are certain bugs in the phone, but the Samsung Galaxy tab’s customer care experience is worst – they never care about my requests – simply they diverting here and there.)

Ok…. Fine. We talk about only pros not the cons.

MOBILE AP : Until i buy the TAB, i never knew this facility is available with that phone. Whats it? How its working? Earlier for the purpose of using internet via GPRS, i bought the nokia7210 Supernova, i used to connect the phone to my laptop with the cable and using that <50 kbps connectivity for my internet. This is quite fine when i travel to my home town – village, where there is no way to get the good speed internet connection.

But when you switch ON this Mobile AP application in my TAB, it is acting as a “WiFi” access point for 30-50 feet distance.!!!! Yes, it is generating the WiFi signal with 2.4GHz spectrum, with WPA2-PSK encryption. You can carry your WiFi network in any part of the village provided if you have the mobile network. It is receiving the internet connectivity via GPRS from the mobile provider (2G network – up to 64 kbps speed [tested], 3G network – up to 3 Mbps [Yet to test]) and generating the signal with 2400 MHz. You can connect up to 5 users either to your laptop or your WLAN enabled phone.!!!

The laptop / WLAN enabled phone never know it is the Mobile AP, simply it will detect a WiFi access point name (you can customize your own name, password & security method) and connect it with your credentials. It will automatically assign the dynamic IP address, etc., So your small LAN is ready now. You can even access your Galaxy tab files via-laptop browser through the local IP : 192.168.43.1:8999 (provided you have enabled your remote desktop application). So never need to bother to take the moving office with your colleagues. No extra connection settings once you set the SSID name & Password. Simply switch on Mobile AP. Keep the galaxy TAB aside or some one can keep using that, side by side 5 laptop users can connect wireless internet. !!! If you have 3G network, you will experience cool with this machines.!!!

Thanks samsung, for the good mobile experience.
